I was searching around the internet and found an interesting article about a woman who had falsely claimed rape twice. After reading, I felt oddly disturbed and quite honestly irritated.
[This is the woman in question]
The reason why she had attempted to convict a man of rape was because she was having an affair with him, who was the partner of a friend. She didn’t want to face the consequences of being involved in this affair. And while it doesn’t specify whether or not he and the friend were married or just dating, an affair of any kind is a rather huge insult to a person’s dignity. However, it does not justify the fact that he is now carefully being watched by those around him for even just being tried for rape. This is a problem he will have to deal with for the rest of his life.
Many people who have heard of this case are saying, “She was only sent to jail for six months? She should be in there for life for what she tried to do.” But while her actions have deeply irked me, I have to say I strongly disagree with this. 6 months of confinement is enough to drive a person insane. I would never wish for a person to be sent there for life, at least for this level of a crime. I’m sure many others can agree with this.
